An action figures is character figurine made of synthetic materials such as plastic. These figures are often based upon icons made popular by movies, games, television programs and comic books. During the first release of these figurines, they were often marketed to little boys who were fond of action thrills brought upon by media. Those ones that can be dressed are often referred to as action dolls which are pretty much different from those figures whose clothes are molded on and cannot be taken off.
Action figures for the TV series "Captain Power and the Soldiers of the future" were first made by Mattel back in 1987. The collection series of these figures became an instant hit, however, their success with these items were short lived.
Some materials such as glow in the dark plastics have been incorporated and used in various assortments back in the early 90's. Many advocates of these materials have produced Anime PVC we still know and love today. Overtime the features of these have become more and more drastic. Some manufacturers even included punching action on dolls upon squeezing and combat voices that goes along with the action punches. They also have included other accessories such as toy guns with suction bullets that have become quite a commodity. The "Ninja Turtles' Wacky Action" series incorporated gears that caused motorized action of certain dolls like swimming or movement of the limbs. Battery powered PVC figures also came about two years after its release that have set a new trend on manufacturing action figures.
Today, there are toy stores that are found all over the net that cater to your action figure craze. You can find action figures with cool features beyond your wildest dreams. You can even find new ones that you probably didn't know about until you have set foot on the toy shops that offer cool figures with new freebies. You can even find the classic figures you loved out there that are considered to be rare items for collection.
